Sensory Stories CD

Sensory Stories CD

by Deborah Marr, ScD, OTR/L & Victoria L. Nackley, MS, OTR/L
published by Therapro, Inc.
reviewed by Diana Henry and a host of other expert eyes and minds.

Sensory Stories are for any child with
sensory overresponsivity
who has difficulty
participating in everyday activities.

Similar to Carol Grey's Social Stories, Sensory Stories offers strategies to help children adapt to their environment. Sensory Strategies, however, incorporates both sensory benefits as well social acceptability into their stories.

Sensory Stories are in PDF files on the CD and are customizable.

Age range:
Sensory Stories are targeted at children in the early elementary grades. And the children can color in the line drawings to personalize them.

Who can benefit:
The child does not need to have a specific medical diagnosis to use Sensory Stories but there are several diagnoses where sensory overresponsivity commonly occurs: Sensory Processing Disorder, pervasive developmental disorder, autism, Asperger's syndrome, fragile X syndrome, learning disabilties, and attention deficit disorder.

Who can work with Sensory Stories:
A perfect tool for practitioners who work with sensory overresponsive children.  Equally effective when used by Educators, Parents, and anyone who raises or works with a child who struggles with sensory overresponsivity.

Customizing Sensory Stories:
If needed, the stories can be customized to reword the story to match the child's level of understanding.  The stories can also be customized by selecting different or additional strategies that better fits a particular situation.  Try the online customization tool and see its many benefits at www.sensorystories.com.
